The National Youth Mentorship Programme was officially launched on 2 May, 1999. A group activity is done on a quarterly basis.This programme was developed under the realm of the Social Development Department Government's primary Social Service Agency, with a view to promote overall positive growth for all citizens of the British Virgin Islands. Big Brother/Big Sister manages to fulfill a dual role of being both preventative and proactive in its function. A group activity is done on a quarterly basis.
